Summer 2006
With the warm weather having arrived and summer officially here, White Harvest Trading Company is full of new arrivals and great bargains. Products have arrived from many of the Chinese minority groups that are wonderful for giving as gifts to those who have everything. One such item comes from the Bai people in Yunnan province where specialized hand crafted wooden mirrors and wall hangings have been made uniquely for White Harvest Trading Company. These wood products as well as the beautiful “inside the bottle” paintings would be a welcome addition to any home. We still have a good collection of hand painted scripture scrolls with various Bible verses written in Chinese adorning each scroll. The jewelry at White Harvest continues to be a hit with our customers, particularly our freshwater pearls in various colors as well as the traditional natural white colors. There is always the opportunity to find those special “heart felt” gifts for a friend or relative as well. With the summer months our store has the flavor of the sand and seashore as many nautical pieces have arrived as well as lamps and always our great buys on seagrass rugs. So many items to choose from and at such great prices. Be sure to come by the store when you visit Pawleys Island to check out all the new products.
White Harvest Foundation Update
The White Harvest Foundation has also been quite busy during the early days of summer. An English teaching team of three lowcountry women just returned from the province of Shandong in the north eastern region of China where they touched the lives of many young Chinese students in one of the universities. There were also many opportunities to share American culture with younger students while the women were there. A medical team of doctors and nurses from our area is presently coming together for a potential trip next spring. They will bring hope by offering general medical clinics to the poor of GuangXi province. Perhaps one of the most exciting things that is happening at White Harvest Trading Company is our newly developed website.
